Samsung Corporation donated this state-of-the-art medical center with the aim to raise the standard of medical services in Korea. The landscape (total site) supports this claim to a better and more caring medical environment. All outdoor places are designed as an extension of the indoor healing environment. Emphasis was given to improving the view from all patient spaces and to providing soft non-threatening arrival experiences for patients under stress. The design was concerned with ease of way-finding, the creation of sense of place, a more cheerful and hotel-like atmosphere for staff, nurses and doctors, outdoor healing and re-habitation places as well as dignified experience of dealing with death and mourning.
