World Cup Park is established on a site of uncontrolled previous garbage dumping. All plant material is selected to help heal the soil, and to provide a diversified upper floodplain ‘forest of hope’ with rapid crown closure. The newly reintroduced wetland is fed with water gained from sewage mining. Biological filters are built into the system to guarantee water quality for healthy wetland habitats and recreational use.
