YONGSAN PARK DESIGN COMPETITION, SEOUL, 2012
Award Finalist, Invited International Design Competition
Scope Landscape Design and Re-use Proposal
Size 243 ha
Client Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport
Yongsan National Park will replace the 8th US army base in downtown
Seoul. The design proposes a “morphogenic field” for ecological democracy
and U-eco metropolis, not only a blueprint based on ‘form’ but a dynamic
ecological and social process of a living park. Land is regarded as body to
heal and to experience, where remaining structures are recycled, green / blue
networks are reconnected, and memory and identity of place is reestablished.
For this, we bring in Field design theory and Quantum aesthetics, integrating
art and science, East and West, old and new.
Other Awards 3rd Price, International Idea Competition for Yongsan Army Base Reuse
and Design, 2009 (no 1st price awarded)
1st Price and Project Award, Nationwide Design Competition, 1990,

public park
